LGV C+E (Class1) Tramper Drivers - Bulk Haulage

AW Jenkinson Transport Ltd operate a large fleet of modern vehicles with 15 depots located throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting additional class one tramper drivers to join our team with vacancies available throughout the UK.

This role involves working away from home Monday to Friday with the occassional requirement for working on a Saturday morning, delivering bulk product nationwide.

    Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence with LGV C+E (class1)
  • Minimum 1yr C+E driving experience
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points
  • Valid DCPC & digital tachograph
  • Sound geographical knowledge and understanding of EU drivers hours rules
  • Experience of bulk haulage preferred

  • Please note, our trailer gantry and fall arrest systems have a 22stone (140kg) maximum weight limit

    LGV Mechanic / Fitter - Penrith

    A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd has a vacancy for an experienced and qualified LGV Mechanic/Fitter to work at our Gilwilly site, repairing and maintaining LGV units and a varied range of trailers including walking floors, timber cranes, tippers, and curtain sided trailers.

    The ideal applicant will have experience of maintaining LGV’s taking into account Health and Safety requirements whilst making the best use of time and resources.

    Hours of work are variable but worked during dayshift, Monday to Friday inclusive, with alternate Saturdays. However, depending on workload, there may be a requirement to work additional hours.

    Ideally you will come from a time served LGV background having attained appropriate City & Guilds, NVQ or B/TEC qualifications. More importantly you will have experience of working in a Heavy Goods Vehicle workshop.

    The Role:

  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, MOT Preparation and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard.
  • Carry out a wide range of defect repairs.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers.
  • Carry out fault diagnostic, troubleshooting and rectification using the manufacturers computer systems.
  • Complete job cards and service sheets in a timely manner.
  • Repair and refurbish company trailers.
  • LGV Licence desired however not essential.
  • Good housekeeping routines to meet H&S requirements.

  • Personal Qualities:

    LGV Mechanic/General Maintenance & Defect Repairs – Chippenham & Avonmouth

    A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd has a vacancy for an experienced LGV Mechanic based in the Chippenham and Avonmouth area.

    The role will include general LGV unit and trailer defect repairs, as well as carrying out roadside repairs where necessary.

    The ideal applicant will have experience of maintaining LGV’s taking into account Health and Safety requirements whilst making the best use of time and resources.

    This role would be ideal for someone who thrives working in a fast-paced environment and likes working independently. The successful candidate will be supplied with a company van with full equipment and tools provided.

    Hours of work are variable, but generally worked between 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive, with alternate Saturdays. An earlier start time is required on a Monday. Due to the nature of the role, there may be a requirement to work additional hours, including early starts and late finishes.

    Due to the nature of the job, a full driving licence is required, and holding a valid LGV driving licence would be advantageous.

    Administrator - Runcorn

    A. W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd. requires an Administrator to provide support to a busy office. The position will be based at our Transport Office in Runcorn.

    The position will involve all aspects of general administration, including data input, filing and photocopying to support our Fleet Maintenance team. Hours of work are 27.5 per week, days and times of work are negotiable.

    The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working to deadlines, good attention to detail, high level of accuracy and be a good communicator. Problem solving skills and ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. Experience of the Logistics Industry would be advantageous. Excellent I.T. and administration skills are essential as is a full clean driving license.

    Apprentice Transport Planner

    Apprenticeship Opportunity

    We are now looking for Trainee Transport Planners to join our growing team. We need trainees to join our team in Chippenham and Penrith.

    The aim of this apprenticeship is to help you learn and develop a range of transferable skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you make the most out of this opportunity. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience.

    About the role

    This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop you over two years to become a respected and successful Transport Planner. You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as a Level 3 Transport Supervisor.

    During your apprenticeship you will support the Traffic Team, in an efficient and confidential way, and will learn to:

  • Manage collections and deliveries taking into account route planning, reducing empty loads, and cost;
  • Manage drivers and deal with day to day issues including drivers hours and health & safety;
  • Liaise with customers and drivers to provide high quality communication;
  • Understand customer contracts, rules, penalties etc;
  • Update computer systems with account information, access and egress issues, hold-ups, damage etc
  • What you need to apply

    You will have a minimum of 4 GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and English. You will also need to be competent on Word,

    including having some Excel knowledge, as well as have some interest in working in a transport and logistics environment.

    You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop.

    The key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both.

    Driver Bootcamp

    A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd is pleased to announce the next intake of trainee drivers via the LGV Skills Bootcamp and we are now looking to recruit candidates for our depots in Penrith, Chesterfield, and Goole – we require candidates to live within a one-hour commute of their chosen depot.

    The LGV Skills Bootcamp is open to anyone over the age of 19 and already in possession of a minimum Category B (car) licence. After an initial interview, the preliminary phase will be run in conjunction with our third-party training provider before progressing to an intensive in cab training course with our Driver Training team at our Head Office in Penrith.
