AW Jenkinson Transport Ltd operate a large fleet of modern vehicles with 15 depots located throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting additional class one tramper drivers to join our team with vacancies available throughout the UK.

This role involves working away from home Monday to Friday with the occassional requirement for working on a Saturday morning, delivering bulk product nationwide.

• Experience of bulk haulage preferred

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 5 shifts per week working a day or nightshift pattern returning to the depot at the end of each shift.

• Min 1 year C+E driving experienc

The role will be cab-hopping to begin with, covering holidays each week. These are full-time employed positions with guaranteed weekly income offering variety of work.

LGV Mechanic / Fitter - Penrith

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd has a vacancy for an experienced and qualified LGV Mechanic/Fitter to work at our Gilwilly site, repairing and maintaining LGV units and a varied range of trailers including walking floors, timber cranes, tippers, and curtain sided trailers.

The ideal applicant will have experience of maintaining LGV’s taking into account Health and Safety requirements whilst making the best use of time and resources.

Hours of work are variable but worked during dayshift, Monday to Friday inclusive, with alternate Saturdays. However, depending on workload, there may be a requirement to work additional hours.

Ideally you will come from a time served LGV background having attained appropriate City & Guilds, NVQ or B/TEC qualifications. More importantly you will have experience of working in a Heavy Goods Vehicle workshop.

The Role:

• Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, MOT Preparation and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard.
• Carry out a wide range of defect repairs.
• Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers.
• Carry out fault diagnostic, troubleshooting and rectification using the manufacturers computer systems.
• Complete job cards and service sheets in a timely manner.
• Repair and refurbish company trailers.
• LGV Licence desired however not essential.
• Good housekeeping routines to meet H&S requirements.

Personal Qualities:

LGV Mobile Chipper Driver

A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products are looking for an experienced LGV Driver for a Mobile Chipper Vehicle to work across our various sites.

The position involves operating the chipper, carrying out some basic maintenance on the chipper and filling in relevant paperwork as required. Drivers are required to work such hours as necessary including occasional weekends and evenings; this role also includes some working away from home. The successful candidate will hold a valid LGV Class C License and ideally be experienced operating a crane although training could be offered to the right candidate.

Driver Trainer Manager

A. W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd. is looking for a Training Manager to join our LGV Driver Training Team, based at our Penrith office. The business operates a large fleet of LGV Vehicles with maintenance workshops over separate sites and several depots around the country.

The position involves, but is not limited to:

• Managing a team of Driver Trainers, based around the UK;
• Carrying out formal training and assessment of both LGV Drivers and Trainers;
• Ensuring high quality, relevant training is provided to our LGV Drivers;
• Creating and developing relevant DCPC, Toolbox Talks, Safe Systems of Work and other training material;
• Reporting to senior managers appropriate information relating to driving performance;
• Liaising with Compliance, Insurance and HR departments to develop training to improve standards of driving and safety;
• Ensuring all health & safety, and other regulatory requirements are met in providing training, including at training venues;
• Ensuring quality training is provided for category C and C+E licence acquisition.

The successful candidate will have a valid LGV licence and experience of bulk transport and general haulage. You will also be confident liaising with Senior Managers and Colleagues and be able to manage your own time effectively.

Ideally you will be a DSA or NIR qualified instructor with excellent presentation skills, with a basic teaching qualification, e.g. PTLLS and IOSH Managing Safely Certificate, though training will be provided where necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion are essential.

As the company operates throughout the United Kingdom there will be a requirement to travel and the need for a flexible approach to work as there will be the requirement for some early starts and late finishes.

Apprentice Transport Planner

Company Background

Apprenticeship Opportunity

We are now looking for Trainee Transport Planners to join our growing team. We need trainees to join our team in Chippenham and Penrith.

The aim of this apprenticeship is to help you learn and develop a range of transferable skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you make the most out of this opportunity. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience.

About the role

This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop you over two years to become a respected and successful Transport Planner. You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as a Level 3 Transport Supervisor.

During your apprenticeship you will support the Traffic Team, in an efficient and confidential way, and will learn to:

• Manage collections and deliveries taking into account route planning, reducing empty loads, and cost
• Manage drivers and deal with day to day issues including drivers hours and health & safety
• Liaise with customers and drivers to provide high quality communication
• Understand customer contracts, rules, penalties etc.
• Update computer systems with account information, access and egress issues, hold-ups, damage etc.

What you need to apply

You will have a minimum of 4 GCSE / National 5 qualifications at standard grade C / grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and English.

You will also need to be competent on Word, including having some Excel knowledge, as well as have some interest in working in a transport and logistics environment.

You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop.

The key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both.
